I have submitted this watercolour painting of my depiction of Horses and Christmas to BHS Christmas card competition 2021. It is called ‘A Christmas Nativity Reminder’ and is an indication of not forgetting the Christmas Nativity. By being reminded of the story of The Three Wise Kings finding the brightest star in the night sky, the ‘Star of Bethlehem’ for guidance (also known as ‘Star of David’ in the Jewish faith).
I am a British Muslim BHS student who is re-learning about horses and riding after a having a break since my teens. I am currently taking my BHS qualifications and am being ‘guided’ by BHS education after a long time of trying to find a way to have horses back in my life. This painting depicts my love for horse riding with the spirit of Christmas.
As an Equine artist I find the relevance of equine in the stories of the bibles of all 3 monotheism faiths (Christianity, Islam and Judaism) uplifting and interesting and try to be reminded of them by fundraising or painting.
I am also submitting this painting to promote BAME (Black, Asian, Ethnic Minority) Equine and Rural Activities Focus Group (BERF) on Facebook. I am the Cultural Liaison Officer for the group.
The rider in my painting has the BERF group logo and name on. I hope to encourage more people to support the BHS cause with my qualifications in the future and get more support for BERF Group aswell.
